Update from below message. The first "Regata Viento y Marea Cozumel was held Nov. 2007 in Cozumel.

This is the first Kitesurfing National Circuit stop.
The first place winner was Sean Farley of Col.
Second place was Adam Withington, of Quintana Roo. Third place winner was Raquel Arrollo of Nay.
Fourth place winner was Miguel Manzanilla of Quintana Roo (Cancun).
Fifth place winner was Francisco Chan of Quintana Roo.
Sixth place winner was Marco Silva of D.F.

We are proud to announce that Adam, of Cozumel, won third place in Mexico's kite boarding national championship in Puerta Vallarta in May 2007.
Adam has been kite boarding since his dad, Dan Withington became his coach in Jan. 2006. Living in
Cozumel allows Adam to practice any day the wind is right.

Learning to Kite

To learn to kite, Dan taught Adam all the physical theory behind kites and kite boarding. Then, they hit the beach.

After learning to fly the large kite required from the beach, on the sand, Adam gets into the water.

Instructor is holding the kite. Adam now will get his feet in the boots of the board or just get ready to get on the board.

Then, he lets go and Adam takes the kite into the air, allowing his body to drag in the water.

Adam now gets onto the board and is ready to get up on the board.

Finally, he gets up and the kites pulls him into standing.

He kites towards the south with all the others. Dan, the instructor runs along the shoreline.

One year later, after many afternoons of the same, Adam is kiting regularly.

Adam turned 17 (2007)years old this month. He has lived in Cozumel since he was born. He was on
Cozumel's swim team for many years, competing with older children and constantly winning.
