Regata Cozumel Nov. 2007

Regata Viento Y Marea Cozumel

The Mexican National KiteBoard circuit started their 2008 season early with the Regata Viento Y Marea Cozumel Nov. 16-19, 2008. 

It is the first time such an event was held on the island of Cozumel.  The tournament started about four seasons ago, with the AKCM (Asociacion de Kitesurf Central de Mexico). 

The judges for the event were:

Daniel Therrien

Foka Racca

The event started with light winds on the 17th and after running two heats, the judges decided to restart th tournament the following day.  On Saturday, the 18, the wind picked up to 16 knots and the judges decided to begin the tournament.  The judging criteria was single elimination. 

These were the winners:

1.  Sean Farley (Colina)

2.  Adam Withington (Q. Roo)

3.  Raquel Arrollo (Nay)

4.  Miguel Manzanilla (Q. Roo)

5.  Francisco CHan (Q> Roo)

6.  Marco Silva (D. F.)

Home town favorite, Adam Withington (Flexifoil and Crazyfly) took second to three time national champion Sean Farley from Colima.  Paco Chan (GK and Crazyfly) was the life of the party and ended up fifth place and started to climb his way up on the national tour.

We would like to thank all the people that came to the event, Ryan Riccitelly and the Kiteboarder staff and Richard Hallman. 

We look forward to next year's repeat even and will be  open to international riders then, with cash prizes.  We'll have more news soon!
