Cell Phone Rentals

Cozumel Vacation Homes now has cell phone rentals!

There are some homes that have no phone and having a cell phone will allow you to "let your fingers do the walking". You can call your dive shop, our office, or even get phone calls from home. It is a great idea even if your vacation home has a phone, so that you can call or be called. It is a great idea for vacationers.

Cozumel Vacation Homes charges $50 for five days and the last two days are rent-free if you need it for a full week. The daily charge is $15 per day to rent it for less than five (5) days. This rent includes 200 credits. No refunds for unused credits. $100 USD cash refundable deposit required.

Check out the phone

We will collect $150 cash or travelers checks from you when you check out your phone. The actual rental is $50 with the outlined conditions. The $100 is a damage deposit and you will get that back when you return your phone undamaged.

Check in the phone

If there are damages from dropping the phone, getting the phone wet, or disrespectful usage, then you will be charged the full damage deposit. You must return the phone to get your $100 refund, of course. At the time that you return your phone, we will check the credits and will bill you as outlined below if needed. We will refund the full $100 only f no additional charges nor damages incurred.

Telephone calls cost and charges

Local calls

For local telephone calls, the 200 credits that come with the phone rental will allow you approximately 20 short calls. If you go over the 200 credits, the second 200 credits will cost you $25 dollars more. We give no refunds for unused credits.

Long distance phone calls

Long distance phone calls are much more expensive and will shorten the usage of the telephone calls. We recommend that you make your long distance calls from the Calling Station, located downtown on the beachfront road near Calle 3 or any telephone center in Cozumel. Remember, Mexico has one of the highest long-distance service billings in the world, so try to avoid making phone calls.

Additional credits

A telephone may have more than 200 credits available, so we will have to check how many credits were actually used when you check in. The rental includes usage of 200 credits. To check, you have to enter *333. An operator will answer in Spanish, then you push "1" and they will tell you how many credits are left.

In case you need more credits after using the 200 credit included in your rent, you can buy an "Amigo-card" at any TelCel phone center. You will have to dial *333 and tell the operator all the numbers on the back of the card after you scratch the black off the number.

If you don´t speak Spanish, the clerk who sells you the card will be able to help you.

We will issue you the phone, the charger, the box, and manual. The charger takes about four hours to charge the phone with the phone turned off.

Email me to make your reservation for your cell phone. We need at least a few hours notice to order your cell phone rental. For just $50 per phone, you can get one for each family and be able to better plan your precious vacation minutes.

Cozumel has many internet cafés that offer internet access, good computers in air conditioned rooms, and — sometimes — good coffee.

We recommend the full-service places because you can get a lot of business done quickly and get back to your vacation fun.

Located on 3rd street a half-block from the beachfront road is an American franchise offering many things for the Cozumel dweller and many things for the tourist as well.

They offer computer usage, internet service, fax service, speedy-delivery mail service to the States, post-office boxes for mail, and forwarding services just to name a few.

They will hold your packages after shopping while you go play in the sun. This is convenient if you are overloaded with souvenirs. You can get photocopies made, bound and more.

It is located on the beachfront road also offers computer usage, internet service, fax service and a huge selection of VCR videos for rent. Make sure you tell them you are guests of Cozumel Vacation Homes and you will be able to rent them even if you are just visiting Cozumel.

The Diamond

This is an Internet Café, located on the corner of 11th and the beachfront road. There is also one on Avenida 10 and 4th Street.

The Calling Station

This is the heartbeat of communications in Cozumel within the community. This telephone center is a world-wide telephone service. They offer complete communication options including computer usage, internet service, fax service and a huge selection of VCR videos for rent. (Make sure you tell them you are guests of Cozumel Vacation Homes and you will be able to rent them even if you are just visiting Cozumel.) They have private air-conditoned booths for calling local and long distances. You pay for the minutes you talked, no minimum charge. They don't add surcharge or connection fees, either. Most of the movies are in English with Spanish subtitles. They have a few in other languages with Spanish subtitles. There is an international money exchange as well. The large bulletin board is used by locals for information about jobs, messages, courses, local current affairs, and activities. It's located downtown on the beachfront road, in a real "hot spot". It's at Plaza Orbi on 3rd St. It's near many popular businesses in the area such as Guess Jeans, Omega Films, Shades sunglass store, Kentucky Fried Chicken; and it's around the block from the popular Coffee Bean. It's a high-activity area. There are a few park benches on the sidewalk outside. Those benches are the best seat in the house to watch the sunset.
